Del hipertexto al hipermercado

Reflexión en torno al concepto de hipertexto, centrándose en los aspectos de autoría, lectura y definición. Se sostiene que los hipertextos no pueden estudiarse sólo desde la perspectiva textual sino que también como otra forma más de representación icónica. Se reflexiona, por último, sobre la naturaleza de una sociedad organizada en base a la simulación y la generación de mundos ilusorios. Este artículo está construido mediante relaciones isotópicas de diferentes citas. Todos los personajes y situaciones o diálogos que aparecen mencionados en el artículo son «ficticios». La «autoría» del texto debe ser juzgada por el lector, en consecuencia, por el juicio que le merezca la relevancia de las inserciones.This article reflects on the concept of bypertext, focusing primarily on authorship, reading and definition. It argües that hypertext can be studied not only from a textual perspective, but also as a form of iconic representation. Finally, it considers the nature of a society organized according to simulation and the creation of unreal worlds. This article has been constructed by isotopic relations of different quotations. Every character and situation or dialogue that is mentioned in this article is «fictitious». Who has been the author of the text is something that the reader should decide.Publicad

A Multi-Level Analysis of World Scientific Output in Pharmacology

The purpose of this chapter is to analyse international research in “pharmacology, toxicology and pharmaceutics” (hereafter pharmacology) on the basis of the scientific papers listed in the Scopus multidisciplinary database. This primary objective is reached by answering the following questions (in the section on results). What weight does the subject area “pharmacology, toxicology and pharmaceutics” carry in world-wide science? What is the percentage contribution made by the various regions of the world to the subject area “pharmacology, toxicology and pharmaceutics”? Can certain regions be identified as leaders on that basis, as in other scientific contexts? Are emerging countries present in the field? Do the most productive countries also publish the largest number of journals? What features characterise the scientific output of companies that publish pharmacological papers

Introduction to network analysis

La teoría de redes y el análisis estructural son poco conocidos en nuestra área, tanto en el campo teórico, como metodológico. El actual período de revolución en el análisis de redes que también afecta a la biblioteconomía y documentación debe cambiar este hecho, ya que su aplicación implica un salto cuantitativo y cualitativo en la representación y el análisis de la estructura de todo tipo de dominios científicos, ya sean geográficos, temáticos, institucionales e incluso individuales. Este trabajo tiene por objeto la caracterización de los distintos tipos de redes del mundo real según su tipo y tamaño, estableciendo un primer criterio para la determinación de redes con posible aplicación en los estudios de biblioteconomía y documentación. En segundo lugar, un análisis de los diversos tipos de redes, a través de las teorías que estudian el comportamiento y la dinámica estructurales, y la influencia de los trabajos de nuestra área para el establecimiento de la explicación más probable para el crecimiento y la evolución de las redes reales.Despite its long existence and international acceptance, network theory and analysis is a practically unknown approach in Documentation, both theoretically and methodologically speaking. Secondly, the increase in computing power has made it possible to explore networks with millions of nodes. Thirdly, there is the slow but sure breakdown of boundaries between disciplines. This can be seen by researchers because of their ability to access and use databases that facilitate an understanding of the generic properties of complex networks.Publicad

The extraordinary advances that have taken place in recent years in the study and analysis of complex networks have been made possible by a number of parallel developments. First of all, with computerized data acquisition and handling, large databases can bemanaged, leading to the emergence of different real network topologies. Secondly, the increase in computing power has made it possible to explore networks with millions of nodes. Thirdly, there is the slow but sure breakdown of boundaries between disciplines. Portuguese production in library & information science. Web of science 1990-2005

III Encuentro Ibérico de Docentes e Investigadores en Información y Documentación, Salamanca (Spain), 5-7 May 2008.Se lleva a cabo un análisis de la producción portuguesa en Biblioteconomía y Documentación contenida en el Web of Knowledge, entre los años 1990 y 2005, caracterizándola desde la perspectiva bibliométrica. Se utilizan como revistas fuentes las clasificadas en la categoría temática “Information Science & Library Science” (1995-2005), usando la versión en línea de la Web of Knowledge y producida por autores que trabajan en instituciones y centros de investigación radicados en Portugal. Se presentan los resultados obtenidos del análisis, mostrando indicadores del dominio, así como de autores, instituciones, revistas y países. Se ha calculado también el impacto esperado de la producción, con los valores obtenidos en el Journal Citation Report. La participación de los científícos portugueses en esta disciplina, es muy escasa. Sobresalen la Universidad de Lisboa, la Universidad Nova de Lisboa (Monte Caparica), la Universidad Técnica de Lisboa y la Universidad de Coimbra por la visibilidad que obtiene su producción. Llama la atención la colaboración internacional de los autores del dominio que se centra casi exclusivamente con autores del Reino Unido, Universidad de Sheffield y Universidad de Leeds y en donde las revistas de contenido bibliométrico no han sido nunca citadas por los investigadores portugueses durante el periodo considerado.Publicad
